Poet and Evergreen State College professor Leonard Schwartz will discuss his two recent publications, The New Babel: Towards A Poetics of the Mid-East Crises and Benjamin Fondane: Cinepoems and Others, on Tuesday, April 17, at 5:00pm in Sanders Classroom, Spitzer Auditorium. MODFEST returns to Vassar as artists explore the theme of “Adapting” in an everchanging world through written and spoken words, visual arts and performance, February 1 - 11, 2018

Modfest, Vassar College’s annual exploration of the arts of the 20th and 21st centuries, will consider the concept of “Adapting,” February 1 – 11, 2018. Throughout these two weeks, artists will examine different perspectives of what this can mean in our ever-changing world through written and spoken words, visual arts and performance.

Wendy Graham, Vassar English professor and author, sheds new light on Victorian discourses on sexuality and masculinity through a thick description of literary bravado, the emotions of male bonding within cliques, and homoerotic frissons among the creators and reviewers of Pre-Raphaelitism in her new book, Critics, Coteries, and Pre-Raphaelite Celebrity (Columbia University Press, December 2017).
